Buffy and Angel were closing the club. The employees had already cleaned everything and made it ready for the next night but Angel was busy turning off the electrical equipment while Buffy worked the books in their office. Xander lingered with Angel to lend a hand.

“So I think I’m going to do it.”

“Do what?” Angel asked as he stacked a chair on top of one of the tables.

“ I’m going to ask Cordy to marry me.” he put down the chair and looked at his friend.

“You’re going to marry Cordelia?” Angel said with teasing surprise. The thought of anyone marrying Cordelia Chase made his flesh crawl but Angel knew how much Xander had grown to love Cordelia. Against all odds they had made it work. Angel was only surprised that it took so long.

“ Laugh it up, Buddy! When you gonna make Buffy an honest slayer?” Xander teased.

Angel shot him a look to lt him know the subject was off limits. It had been a source of much debate between him and Buffy for years. They both knew that they belonged together but Angel was reluctant to make it official. He was a vampire! Vampire’s don’t get married whether they had souls or not. Buffy, on the other hand, wanted to have a wedding, to be a bride before... Well she had lived this long but how much longer could she live on borrowed time? No other slayer had ever lived this long.

“Looks like you’re in some deep water there, pal.”

“It’s just the whole wedding thing. I’m glad for you and Cordy, really.”

“She hasn’t said yes yet!”

“She will.” Angel assured. They finished and shut off the lights before going in pursuit of Buffy.
